wild rumpus

we've been wanting to take stella to wild rumpus children's bookstore for some time now, so we thought today would work just fine! we only had about an hour's window of time to head over to linden hills, so off we went. i couldn't wait to see stella's reaction to the animals that can roam around the store: cats and a chicken, and then there are the animals in cages: birds, ferrets, hamsters, and the like. the store's name is from maurice sendak's beloved children's book, where the wild things are. the main character, max, cries, "let the wild rumpus begin!"

checking out a little tunnel/cave of books; squealed with delight when she found this little stool to sit on; watching a dad reading a story to a little boy

she also made herself right at home in this adorable adirondack chair

in hot pursuit of an elusive black-and-white kitty; she was walking through the store calling, "kitty, where aaaaare you???" and "meoooow, where aaaaare you!?"

i bought these two for miss stella

as we left, we were talking about what we had seen at the bookstore, and she said, "more, please." we'll have to go back there again soon! i saw a sign for story time on mondays, so i think i'll take her to that. any other moms interested in going with us? :)

on the way there, i looked up at the sky and saw a full-circle rainbow. it was beautiful! such a wonderful reminder of our faithful God's promise to never again allow a worldwide flood.
