wednesday

sorry for the obnoxiously long post yesterday - i'm surprised i didn't lose any followers. ;)

stella slept through the night, much to our amazement. she has been coughing even more today, but maybe that means it's loosening up more. she got up around 7:45, and then wanted to go back to bed around 10:15. i rocked her and sang to her, and she fell asleep in my arms. she only does that when she's sick.

brett came home a little earlier - about an hour earlier - yesterday, and he gave her a nebulizer treatment while i got dinner ready. when it was time to put her to bed, we sprayed some saline in her nose to help with congestion. she HATES when we do it, unfortunately, and then she immediately got a nosebleed, got worked up crying, and threw up the very little amount of food she ate for dinner. sigh. it was quite the mess, but once we got her settled down and cleaned up, she was so ready for bed.

yesterday we cuddled lots and lots, read many a book, and i sang quite a few songs to her. she likes amazing grace, it is well with my soul, edelweiss, i love you Lord, kumbaya my Lord. in the afternoon i was becoming stir crazy, so i took her to target because i needed to pick up some more ibuprofen for her anyway, as well as an ingredient i needed for dinner. the highlight of our outing was seeing a dog at target. it was a seizure dog accompanying a very nice lady in a wheelchair who stopped so stella could pet the dog. she put her hand out to him, and he sniffed it, and she thought that was the coolest thing ever. after they left, stella tried running after them, calling for the dog. even when kids are sick, they get these little spurts of energy that surprise me.

she likes to feel brett's face and say "scratchy!"

yesterday i found a youtube video of edelweiss from the sound of music, and stella wanted to listen to it multiple times. i captured her enjoying it:

Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white,
clean and bright
You look happy to meet me.
Blossom of snow
may you bloom and grow,
Bloom and grow forever.
Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever.

now i have a great desire to watch the sound of music! the hills are alive with the sound of music/ with songs they have sung for a thousand years! i know you are all singing this to yourselves now, right? :)

i have enjoyed seeing pictures of my parents' visit to jared and corinne. they visited some desert sand dunes today - so pretty! i'm sure they will regale us with many stories when they get back saturday. sometimes i wonder when brett and i will be able to go on a trip out-of-state again. i think it will be quite some time, but that's okay. we're currently in a phase of life that isn't really conducive to jumping on planes for the weekend. :)
