acknowledge

there were a couple mornings in a row last week that i woke up immediately thinking of proverbs 3:5, 6, and a particular word from the passage was emblazoned on my mind: acknowledge.

in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths
so i began to think about the word acknowledge. the merriam-webster dictionary defines the word as: (1) to recognize the rights, authority, or status of (2) to disclose knowledge of or agreement with (3) to express gratitude or obligation for.

for myself, i would like to be more mindful of God's, Christ's, and the Holy Spirit's presence in my life. this means not trusting in my own strength; not looking to other people for fulfillment or approval; not taking credit for any grace in my life, but instead casting all my cares on Christ and waiting on his time for things; giving thanks for any blessing in my life whether small or big; and not despairing when i enter a trial or test in my life.

i think as christians we are always conscious on some level of God's presence-we are aware of it, but are we mindful and yielding to it? are we listening and praying and seeking out God or just kind of coasting? i want to live a life that is transformed by the gospel every day: to always be growing and becoming more conformed to Christ.

has God been trying to get your attention lately? using a verse or a thought to turn you to him?

  1. I love this post, Sarah. This is what I want for my life, too - I am learning how to acknowledge and submit to Him.
