boundary waters

Last year Brett and his brother, Brian camped up north in the Boundary Waters for three nights. They enjoyed the trip so much that they decided to do it again this year. Each year they buy a little more camping gear and, thanks to our gracious friends, Neal and Pete, are able to borrow the rest. Brian flew in on Wednesday, and they headed up north the following morning at 5:30. They portaged to a little island on Lake Gaskin where they set up camp. I'm so glad they were able to spend time together and do something that they both love so much.

In addition to excursions to Excelsior and Afton, Stella and I went to a get-together at the home of one of my high school friends. There were other friends and their kids, and it was so nice to be around people instead of at home and lonely even if that meant I was the first to leave because Stella was getting tired and ready for bed. It was fun to see friends I hadn't seen in years, and to meet their children, too. Joelle and Jimmy were warm hosts.

I missed Brett so much while he was gone, and I really hope we can have some quality family time this weekend to catch up.

Getting tickled by Uncle Brian

She was frustrated she couldn't scroll through Brian's pictures on his Blackberry like she can on our iPhones

You may have already seen the Boundary Waters pictures on Brett's Facebook page, but here they are:
